The WP Blood Transfusion Service celebrates National Blood Donor Month during June and will host various promotional activities to ensure a consistent blood stock level. WPBTS will also join the worldwide celebration of World Blood Donor Day on Thursday 14 June 2018.
The WPBTS promotional teams will host blood group (BG) or iron (HB) screenings and donor registrations at shopping malls throughout the month as indicated below. The Blood Buzz (the WPBTS big, red bus) will embark on a journey around the Western Cape to highlight the importance of donating blood during June. The Blood Buzz will be at the following venues:

WPBTS staff recently had the opportunity to taste and vote for their favourite cookie during the Cookie of the Year 2018 competition. This limited edition, winning cookie will be available to taste at all of the blood donation clinics during the month of June. WPBTS will also be continuing the Ster-Kinekor promotion, where one lucky winner at each of our clinics will win a double 2D movie ticket.
The winter months can be a particularly difficult time for blood stocks and we would like to appeal to everyone who fulfil the basic donor criteria to come and donate blood. If you are between the ages of 16 and 65, weigh more than 50kg, you are healthy on the day of donation and lead a safe sexual lifestyle you should be able to donate blood.
