Blood Buzz Newsletter – April 2021

Dear Blood Donor,

Winter is coming, we see that the sun rises later and we start feeling the chill in the air. This year’s April is filled with public holidays, school holidays, Easter and Ramadan started, all of which affects our blood stocks.  Winter months also add pressure on our blood supply, as people suffer from colds and flu and subsequently cannot donate.

In this edition of Blood Buzz, we focus on health. Be sure to read Gemma’s inspirational story, who is a cancer warrior only 9 years old, Melanie has great tips on maintaining good general health, Sister Strutt answers some general questions from donors, and Estelle sheds some light on the difference between a Professional Nurse and a phlebotomist.

Also read more about our previous month’s campaign, and see how our new donors rose to the ‘O’cassion. We will also give you a sneak peek of our new winter month campaign, one that will ‘rock your socks’. To keep you warm in the chilly months to come, be sure to try our nice hearty lentil and tomato soup, one that will boost your iron levels.

Enjoy this edition and please stay safe. We look forward to see you at your next blood donation clinic.

Yours in blood donation,

Marike
