On Wednesday, 1 March, we hosted our first corporate CANSA Shavathon, and our staff showed up in full support to spray or shave their hair. We raised R3 210 in total. We are so grateful for the support and kindness shown by our staff towards this cause.

Every year the CANSA Shavathon raises funds to provide care and support to people affected by cancer. As a blood service, some of the recipients of blood and blood products are cancer patients, it was therefore a privilege for us to participate in this initiative.

We look forward to welcoming the CANSA Shavathon team in 2024 to make this a tradition at the service. Sarah Betz Bucciero says, “cancer is a marathon – you cannot look at the finish line. You take it moment by moment, sometimes breath by breath, other times step by step.”
