What should I do if I receive a message from WCBS that my ferritin level is too high?

We will send you an SMS if your ferritin level is higher than 500ug/l.

It is important that you communicate this result to your doctor so they can investigate why your iron stores are high.

There can be a variety of reasons for this, such as conditions like hereditary haemochromatosis or infection or inflammation in the body.

You are advised not to donate blood until it is better understood why your ferritin levels are raised.
