Version 1 | Released 20 February 2017

This Privacy Policy governs your use of the WP Blood Mobile Application (“Application”), developed for Western Province Blood Transfusion Services (“WPBTS”) by The NXT Thing Now (Pty) Ltd. trading as NXT (“NXT”).

The Application is for current and prospective donors of WPBTS. The Application allows such donors to, amongst other features, see fixed and mobile donation stations (“Bloodpin”), navigate to fixed or mobile donation stations, see donor information (“Profile”), see present WPBTS stock levels, read about WPBTS, see available WPBTS social media channels, read donor stories, opt to receive donor alerts and contact WPBTS.

By using the Application, you are willingly providing consent to the terms stipulated in this Privacy Policy.

Standard features of the Application are available to prospective donors without the need to be registered. For you to receive the full value from the donor profile features offered by the Application and for the Application to function to the full intended purpose, you will require a valid donor profile. A donor profile is obtained after your first donation at any WPBTS donation station. Donor profile information that will be obtained include blood type, donation number, and donation venues. The Application will also make use of personal information inclusive of first name, last name, birth date, blood type and donor code. You will be prompted for a password at a minimum of 6 characters that is stored and encrypted according to best practice.

We store information you provide us securely when you contact us for help, in addition to the information provided pertaining to your interaction with the Application. To help improve your user experience, the Application automatically collects device information, including, but not limited to, manufacturer, model, platform, version, serial, UUID, IP, and Internet browser.

To offer you a quality service in terms of finding fixed and mobile donation stations (“Bloodpin”), as well as navigating to fixed or mobile donation stations, the Application will prompt you to share the location of your mobile device. To be able to alert you to the presence of a mobile donation station in your immediate proximity (whilst you are also able to donate again), you will need a donor profile and opt in for a proximity donation alert (that will make use of the present location of your mobile device).
