Thank you to all our blood donors who opted in to the Extra Drop initiative during September and October to support The South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR). Because of you, SABMR received R25 920 which will help South Africans battling blood diseases like Leukemia, where a bone marrow transplant is their best chance at survival.
Over the two-month period 1728 blood donors supported SABMR through the Extra Drop initiative. We were thrilled to present the donation to Dr Charlotte Ingram, CEO of SABMR and Jane Ward, Deputy Director and Head of Donor Services. “On behalf of the SABMR, I wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Western Cape blood Service for selecting us as one of their beneficiaries during September and October”, say Dr Ingram. “This initiative exemplifies the power of partnership and compassion-together, we are extending hope, saving lives and strengthening communities.”
Your continued support for our chosen charities is truly inspiring. By extending your generosity, you have changed lives.
Our new beneficiary for November and December is Operation Smile South Africa, a non-profit that’s part of a global, volunteer-based medical charity. They provide free surgery to repair cleft conditions along with education, training and research in the field.
How It Works:
- Donate Blood: Visit any of our WCBS centres to donate blood.
- Choose Your Gift: Before your donation, you can either keep your token of appreciation or WCBS can donate a monetary value to charity on your behalf.
- Making a Difference: If you decide to donate your token of appreciation, WCBS will match your kindness with a R15 contribution to the chosen charity.
- Charity Focus: Every two months, we will support a different charity, carefully selected by the WCBS committee. These charities will focus on improving healthcare, education, poverty alleviation, youth development, early childhood development, people with disabilities, humanitarian work and animal welfare across the Western Cape.
Thank you for your continued support.
