As we approach the final stretch of the year, many of us are starting to slow down, wrap up projects, and look forward to some well-deserved rest. But for us at the blood service, the festive season is one of the most critical times of the year, when blood donations naturally drop while the need for blood remains constant.

This year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we have already collected over 130,607 of blood across the province. Every one of those units represents a story, of a patient who received a second chance, a parent who went home to their children, a life that kept going because someone chose to donate blood. If you’ve donated this year, thank you. You are part of something truly meaningful and remarkable.

But we’re not done yet. As the festive season approaches and people start travelling, taking leave, and getting busy with holiday plans, our blood stock levels often face pressure. That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to finish the year strong. If you are eligible to donate, you can help us not only maintain a safe and steady supply, but also push our year-end numbers even higher.

Your donation whether your first or your fifteenth can still be part of the story we write together this year. Imagine ending 2025 knowing you helped someone go into the new year with hope. It’s a simple act, but it carries so much weight.

If you’re not sure where to donate during the holidays, we’ve made it easy. Visit wcbs.org.za to find your nearest donation clinic and check operating times. Whether you’re staying home, visiting family, or exploring the province, there’s a donation point close by.
