Every year, high schools across the Western Cape play a vital role in supporting the province’s blood supply. For many learners, donating blood at school is their first step into a lifelong commitment to helping others — and these early experiences are essential in building the next generation of regular donors.

This year, thousands of learners chose to donate, many for the very first time. Their willingness to take part, encourage classmates, and support their school clinics has made a significant contribution to ensuring a stable and sustainable donor base for the future.

We are proud to acknowledge the schools whose dedication and enthusiasm stood out in 2025.

The following schools collected the highest number of units during the year:

  1. Hoërskool Outeniqua (George) – 375 units
  2. HTS Drostdy (Worcester) – 303 units
  3. Langenhoven Gimnasium (Oudtshoorn) – 301 units
  4. Worcester Gymnasium High School (Worcester) – 288 units
  5. Fairmont High School (Durbanville) – 279 units
  6. Protea Heights Academy (Brackenfell) – 279 units
  7. The Settlers High School (Bellville)– 262 units
  8. Spine Road High School (Mitchells Plain) – 253 units
  9. Bergvliet High School (Bergvliet) – 247 units
  10. Emil Weder High School (Genadendal)– 237 units

To every learner who donated, and to the teachers and parents who encouraged them—thank you. Your contribution this year has directly helped patients across the Western Cape and has strengthened the future of blood donation for years to come.

A special congratulations to Hoërskool Outeniqua, HTS Drostdy and Langenhoven Gimnasium for retaining their top three positions again in 2025. And we are equally pleased to welcome Bergvliet High School and Spine Road High School back into the Top 10.
