A renewed call for blood donors as WPBTS celebrates 80 years.

Blood stocks in the Western Cape remain at a critical point as the Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) celebrates 80 years of service.  WPBTS would therefore like to appeal to new and regular blood donors who meet the basic criteria to come and donate blood.

Bring-A-Buddy and save even more lives

The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) needs the help of its regular blood donors to recruit new blood donors.  With the “Bring-A-Buddy” campaign during September regular blood donors are encouraged to bring a friend, family member or colleague to donate blood with them.

What’s in it for our regular donors?  A small token of our appreciation and knowing that you assisted in ensuring a safe and sustainable blood supply by increasing our donors.

Blood stock levels are not improving in the Western Cape!

The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) blood stocks have been on 1 to 2 days since the start of winter and have, unfortunately, not reached the 5-day level WPBTS aims to maintain.  WPBTS are therefore calling on everyone in the Western Cape who are eligible to donate blood today.

“WPBTS is still experiencing critically low blood stocks levels.  We need donors who are eligible to donate to be the difference in someone’s life and make a life-changing commitment” says Michelle Vermeulen, Corporate Public Relations Officer at WPBTS.

Let your business make it their business to save lives

The Western Province Blood Transfusion Service (WPBTS) has been experiencing a critical blood shortage due to various factors the past few months.  In order to maintain a 5 day blood stock level WPBTS would like to appeal to businesses, that meet the minimum requirements, to open their hearts and doors and host a regular blood donation clinic at their place of work.

Take 30 of your 67 minutes to save 3 lives!

The month of July calls on all of us to make the world a better place, with Mandela Day on 18 July. Donating blood may only take 30 minutes of your time, but can make a life-changing difference in someone else’s life.
