Every year a group of our staff volunteers at the Cape Town Cycle Tour, and this year was no different. 16 staff members – from our Head Office, Paarl, Worcester and George branch, left at 04:30am on Sunday, 13 March, to man the 2nd water station on the cycle route. This year, it was raining cats and dogs, but the cyclists braved the weather, and we cheered them on as they faced the next 89km of the race.
You might wonder why anyone would willingly wake up before dawn to bring the ‘gees’ to an annual sporting event, but for us, it is just part of who we are. Numerous of our blood donors are cyclists and this is just one of the ways we create awareness about our brand, show our community we support them and have fun while doing it.
If you’re a cyclist you would know that you cannot donate blood prior to a big sporting event, so now that the tough race is over, we are looking forward to welcoming you back after some well-deserved rest.
